Thunderstorms likely in 9 districts, river ports asked to hoist Signal No. 1
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast temporary squally winds accompanied by rain or thunderstorms over nine districts by this afternoon.
The warning was issued in the inland river ports forecast valid from 5:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday (July 29).
According to the forecast, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mymensingh and Sylhet may experience temporary squally winds blowing from the south or southeast at speeds of 45–60 km/h, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.
In view of the weather conditions, the meteorological department has instructed river ports in these districts to maintain Signal No. 1.
The BMD also said the active monsoon is likely to keep rain-bearing conditions prevailing across many parts of the country over the coming days. Coastal and southeastern regions are expected to receive comparatively heavier rainfall, with gusty winds and thunderstorms remaining more likely.
