Thunderstorms likely in six regions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of squally winds and thunderstorms in several parts of the country.

According to a forecast issued for inland river ports for the period from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7, temporary squally or gusty winds accompanied by rain or thundershowers may sweep over Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Sylhet regions.

Wind speeds may range from 45 to 60 kilometres per hour from the west or north-west direction. River ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number one.

Meanwhile, the overall weather forecast for the country until 6:00 pm on Tuesday said some areas of Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and one or two areas of Rangpur and Dhaka divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds with lightning and rain or thundershowers. Scattered hailstorms may also occur in some places.

Daytime temperatures may drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius across the country, while night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
