TIB BNP’s agent: Quader
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) report is one-sided and anti-government. They (TIB) are agents of BNP,
He added that, "Whatever research the TIB conducts, we do not find objectivity in their findings. They speak in favor of the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) with a biased tone. History tells us that they have always been against the Awami League. They speak on behalf of the BNP. We haven't found impartiality in their research."
He said this at a press briefing at the Awami League president’s office in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi on Thursday noon.
The AL general secretary said, "There is an organization that has no registration, yet some media outlets amplify their words and spread them. Imagine if 100 people die in an accident, they would claim it to be 500. TIB is such an organization. They conduct research, but we do not find the truth in their findings.
When asked if there is any legal action against TIB, Quader responded to journalists, saying, "I am talking about them; that's enough. They are unilaterally biased and I am stating that. Whatever the issue is, it needs to be properly addressed. Even if TIB criticizes the government or the party's image is tarnished, the Awami League will not file a case against the organization."
Responding to a question from journalists about various allegations in different areas after the election, he said, "There will always be political tactics in politics. We have our strategies; everyone has them. In all these matters, the Awami League is leading. Wherever there are problems, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, everyone is united."
Regarding the inclusion of party symbols in local government elections, journalists asked Obaidul Quader if decisions have been made until now. He replied, "Decisions have been made to use party symbols in local government elections, including upazilas. The final decisions will be made at the Awami League's board meeting."
When questioned about who the opposition party will be in Parliament, he responded, "The first session of the current government will be on January 30. It will be clear who the opposition party is once the parliament is in session."
