Tight security arranged for Janmashtami celebrations: DMP commissioner

Janmashtami, one of the major Hindu religious festivals, will be celebrated in Dhaka with vibrant processions and various events, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere. To ensure the smooth and safe observance of the celebrations on August 16, commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arranged comprehensive security measures.

At a coordination meeting on Tuesday at the DMP headquarters about security and traffic management for the Janmashtami procession, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali said that, with the support of the armed forces, city corporation, and various intelligence agencies, tight and continuous security measures will be maintained.

The meeting highlighted the importance of installing CCTV cameras, constructing arches, adhering to the scheduled start and end times of the procession, deploying sufficient volunteers, and respecting other religions. Representatives from the relevant agencies also engaged in detailed discussions about the security plan.
