‘Tin Goyenda’ creator Rakib Hasan passes away

Renowned writer Rakib Hasan, creator of the popular teen detective series 'Tin Goyenda', passed away on Wednesday afternoon (October 15) at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. He was 75.

Family sources said he had been suffering from age-related complications and kidney failure. He died of cardiac arrest during dialysis.

Born on December 12, 1950, in Cumilla, Rakib Hasan spent his childhood in Feni. Though he initially worked in various jobs, he later devoted himself entirely to writing.

Hasan wrote 160 books in the Tin Goyenda series and translated over 30 works, including Dracula, Tarzan, and Arabian Nights. He also created other children’s series such as Tin Bondhu and Musa Robin.

Writers and readers alike mourn his death, remembering him as a pioneer of modern Bangla adventure fiction for young readers.
