Titumir College students call off protest after meeting with govt officials
Students of Government Titumir College called off their movement for upgrading the college to a university on Tuesday after a meeting with government officials, where the government assured them of "forming a committee within seven working days to review their demands".
The meeting was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday between a 14-member delegation from the college and senior government officials at the Secretariat, including Nahid Islam, ICT adviser, and Aminul Islam, special assistant to the education adviser.
Matiur Rahman, a member of the delegation, told the local media outlets, "During the discussion, the government officials assured us that a committee would be formed to review our demands, and they would submit a report within seven days."
"We have accepted their proposal and decided to suspend our movement for that period," he added.
