The government has allocated Tk 1,217crore for the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment in the proposed budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2024-25. The allocation is Tk510 crore higer than the revised budget of Tk1018 crore of the previous FY 2023-24. Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali unveiled a possible Tk7,97,000 crore national budget for the next fiscal year (FY25) at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) this afternoon (June 6). This time the minister would eye building a 'Smart Bangladesh' despite various obstacles and adversities. The theme of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year would be "Pledge towards building a happy, prosperous, developed and smart Bangladesh" in pursuit of turning the country's economy into its previous sound state.

২০২৪-২৫ অর্থবছরের প্রস্তাবিত বাজেটে প্রবাসী কল্যাণ ও বৈদেশিক কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয়ের জন্য ১ হাজার ২১৭ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ দিয়েছে সরকার। এই বরাদ্দ চলতি ২০২৩-২৪ অর্থবছরের সংশোধিত বাজেটের চেয়ে ৫১০ কোটি টাকা বেশি। নতুন অর্থবছরের জন্য ৭ লাখ ৯৭ হাজার কোটি টাকার প্রস্তাবিত বাজেটে এ বরাদ্দ দেয়া হয়। বৃহস্পতিবার (৬ জুন) বিকেলে জাতীয় সংসদে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার উপস্থিতিতে এই বাজেট পেশ করেন অর্থমন্ত্রী আবুল হাসান মাহমুদ আলী। এবারের বাজেট অর্থমন্ত্রী আবুল হাসানের প্রথম ও বাংলাদেশের ৫৩তম বাজেট। এ ছাড়াও এটি প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার নেতৃত্বাধীন সরকারের টানা চতুর্থ মেয়াদের প্রথম বাজেট। বাজেটের প্রতিপাদ্য 'একটি সুখী, সমৃদ্ধ, উন্নত ও স্মার্ট বাংলাদেশ গড়ার অঙ্গীকার', যা দেশের অর্থনীতিকে আগের সুদৃঢ় অবস্থায় ফিরিয়ে আনতে হবে। এ জন্য নানা প্রতিবন্ধকতা ও প্রতিকূলতা পেরিয়ে 'স্মার্ট বাংলাদেশ' গড়তে চোখ রাখবেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।
