The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 has projected a deficit of Tk2.26 lakh crore, lower from Tk256,000 in the current fiscal year, representing 3.62% of the GDP. The government will depend on foreign borrowing, bank loans, and savings certificates to overcome the gap. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed announced the budget via a pre-recorded speech on Monday (2 June). The deficit is planned to be financed by Tk1.25 lakh crore from domestic sources and Tk1.10 lakh crore from foreign sources, said the adviser. Additionally, Tk1.22 lakh crore has been allocated for interest payments in the upcoming fiscal year.

২০২৫-২৬ অর্থবছরের প্রস্তাবিত বাজেটে ২.২৬ লক্ষ কোটি টাকার ঘাটতির পূর্বাভাস দেওয়া হয়েছে, যা চলতি অর্থবছরের ২,৫৬,০০০ টাকার তুলনায় কম এবং জিডিপির ৩.৬২%। এই ঘাটতি কাটিয়ে ওঠার জন্য সরকার বৈদেশিক ঋণ, ব্যাংক ঋণ এবং সঞ্চয়পত্রের উপর নির্ভর করবে। অর্থ উপদেষ্টা ড. সালেহউদ্দিন আহমেদ সোমবার (২ জুন) একটি পূর্ব-রেকর্ড করা বক্তৃতার মাধ্যমে বাজেট ঘোষণা করেন। দেশীয় উৎস থেকে ১.২৫ লক্ষ কোটি টাকা এবং বিদেশী উৎস থেকে ১.১০ লক্ষ কোটি টাকা ঘাটতি পূরণের পরিকল্পনা করা হয়েছে, উপদেষ্টা বলেন। এছাড়াও, আসন্ন অর্থবছরে সুদ পরিশোধের জন্য ১.২২ লক্ষ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে।
