Hatia clash toll rises to 6, body of 'Kopa' Shamsur recovered

The body of Shamsur alias Kopa Shamsu, the leader of Shamsu bahini, has been recovered after the clash and firing between Alauddin and Shamsu Bahini over the occupation of a char in Hatia of Noakhali. With this, six bodies have been recovered in this incident.

Hatia Police Station OC Md. Saiful Alam confirmed the matter.

He said that Shamsu's body was recovered from inside the char forest on Thursday (December 25) evening.

The deceased Shamsuddin was a resident of Ward No. 2 of Jahazmara Union of Hatia Upazila. Locals said that he was involved in various criminal activities in the char area. He was known as Kopa Shamsu and the head of Shamsu Bahini in the char area of ​​Hatia.

The rest of the deceased are - Md. Alauddin, 35, the son of Mohiuddin of Char Amanullah village in Hatia Sukhchar union, Kamal Uddin, 40, the son of Seku Mia of Naler Char in Chandi union, Haque Sab, 55, the son of Shah Alam of Paschim Lakshidia area of ​​Hatia municipality, and Abul Kashem, 62, the son of Joynal Abedin of Dakshin Char Majid in Subarnachar upazila, and Mobarak Hossain Sihab, 23, the son of Shamsuddin.

According to police, the men of Shamsuddin and Alauddin engaged in a shootout and a massive clash throughout the day since Tuesday morning over the occupation of Jaglar Char in Hatia Sukhchar union.

At least five people were killed and more than 10 people were injured in the clash. After the clash, the police recovered the bodies of five people from the scene. However, the whereabouts of the leader of the force, Shamsuddin alias Kopa Shamsuddin, could not be confirmed.

The police finally confirmed that his body had been recovered from the Char forest.
