The Views Bangladesh published an editorial on May 24 noting that despite spending thousands of crores of taka, the navigability of the Old Brahmaputra River could not be restored. Even after the project’s deadline passed, the work remained incomplete, and crores of taka were embezzled. On May 25 (Sunday), news reports revealed that after spending Tk 30 crore, the Old Buriganga channel has again turned into a garbage dump.

In a desperate bid to create public awareness over dumping waste, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has organised a week-long “Garbage Exhibition” in front of the DNCC Nagar Bhaban at Gulshan-2 in the capital. This exhibition started from May 11 and will continue till May 17.
