Touhid urges not to view Jaishankar's Dhaka visit in political perspective
Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar's Dhaka visit should not be viewed in the context of interstate relations and politics, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain has urged.
While talking to reporters at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday (January 1), he said, "BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has a positive image in Bangladesh and other South Asian countries. She is accepted by all people regardless of party affiliation. That is why everyone will attend her funeral. That is why Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has also made a very short visit. It is a part of etiquette; there is no need to find more meaning in it."
The adviser also said that there was no political issue in his discussion with Jaishankar. All the talks were held in front of everyone and there were no bilateral discussions.
Asked whether tensions between the two countries will ease, he said, "You will have to find the answer to this in the future."
