Trade through Hili port suspended for 8 days during Durga Puja
Export and import activities through Hili land port in Dinajpur will remain suspended for eight consecutive days during the Durga Puja festival of the Hindu community.
However, unloading of goods inside Panama Port will continue on non-holiday days, and immigration services at Hili check-post will remain normal.
Confirming the matter on Saturday (September 20), Ferdous Rahman, president of the Banglahili C&F Agents Association, said many formalities take place in India during Durga Puja. Following a decision by traders of both countries, trade will remain suspended at Hili land port from September 26 to October 3. Trading will resume on October 4.
Nizam Uddin, revenue officer of Hili Customs, said customs activities will remain operational except on government holidays, and importers will be able to release goods from the port. “We will extend all possible cooperation,” he added.
Ariful Islam, officer-in-charge of Hili Immigration Check-post, said despite the suspension of trade, passport-holding travellers will be able to cross the border as usual between 9:00am and 6:30pm every day.
