Traffic instructions in Dhaka for Independence Day events, concert

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced special traffic management plans for three key venues in the capital on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day 2026.

According to a public notice issued on Wednesday, March 25, signed by DMP Acting Commissioner Md Sarwar, the events on Thursday, March 26, include a parade at the National Parade Square from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, a courtesy call with the president at Bangabhaban from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, and a concert at Manik Mia Avenue from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

Traffic restrictions for National Parade Square (7:00 am – 12:30 pm)
Vehicles without invitation stickers will be barred from Begum Rokeya Sarani (Agargaon Light Crossing to Ujohaz Crossing), links near the Prime Minister's Office, Syed Mahbub Morshed Road (Shishumela to Agargaon), and the road from July Smriti Museum to Ujohaz Crossing. Diversions will be in place at key intersections.

Alternative routes have been suggested for traffic coming from Jahangir Gate, Mirpur-10, Farmgate/Bijoy Sarani, Dhanmondi, and Shyamoli/Shishumela. Parking for general spectators is designated at the old Trade Fair ground.

Restrictions for Bangabhaban (2:00 pm – 5:30 pm)
Vehicles without stickers will be barred from Abrar Fahad Avenue, DIT Road (Gulistan-Rajuk), Fazle Rabbi Road, and several gaps in Dilkusha area. Diversions will be at Zero Point, Rajuk Crossing, Aliko Gap, Joykali Temple, Daily Bangla Mor, and Motijheel City Centre.

Media vehicles are directed to park at the Motijheel City Centre area.

Traffic plan for Manik Mia Avenue concert (5:00 pm – 11:30 pm)
Diversions will be in place at Aarong Crossing and Khejurbagan Crossing. Alternative routes have been arranged for vehicles coming from Shyamli-Mohammadpur, Shahbag-Sonargaon, the Elevated Expressway, Dhanmondi, and Mirpur Road. Parking for concert-goers is also at the old Trade Fair ground.

The DMP acting commissioner appealed to city residents to follow the traffic instructions and use alternative routes to ensure the smooth conduct of the national day programmes.
