Traffic law violations: DMP files 2,080 cases, dumps 534 vehicles
The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,080 cases and impounded 534 vehicles in a crackdown against traffic law violators in the capital.
DMP's Media and Public Relations Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Niaz Mehedi on Tuesday (July 28) said the operation was conducted on Monday (July 27) across various parts of the capital. Among the cases, 154 were filed in the Traffic-Ramna division, 220 in Lalbagh, 313 in Motijheel, 294 in Wari, 287 in Tejgaon, 351 in Mirpur, 274 in Uttara and 187 in Gulshan division.
The cases were filed against buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws and motorcycles. The highest number of cases — 351 — were filed in the Traffic-Mirpur division.
The DMP said its Traffic Division will continue regular operations to maintain traffic discipline and ensure compliance with traffic laws on the capital's roads.
