Traffic movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway partially resumed this morning (August 25), after a three-day halt.

Khairul Alam, Superintendent of Highway Police for the Cumilla Region, said, "As the floodwaters began receding last evening [August 24], a few heavy vehicles bound for Dhaka began to move forward slowly."

He said, "The highway is still submerged in floodwaters, but heavy vehicles are managing to advance on the lanes. However, buses and smaller vehicles are unable to pass through the floodwaters."

"The Chattogram-bound lane of the highway is still covered in knee-deep water, preventing any vehicles from moving through," he added.

On Thursday night (22 August), the Feni-Cumilla stretch of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway was submerged by the floodwater, forcing traffic movement to be halted as the flood situation of the Feni and Cumilla district worsened.
