Traffic restored on Jamuna Bridge after 80-minute student protest

Rabindra University students on Thursday (August 14) lifted a blockade on the west side of the Jamuna Bridge after an hour and 20 minutes of protest, restoring traffic flow on the Dhaka–North Bengal highway.
The blockade began at 11:50am and ended at 1:10pm. Students were demanding swift approval and full implementation of the Development Project Proposal (DPP) for the construction of the university’s permanent campus.
Jamuna Bridge West Police Station OC Mohammad Asaduzzaman said the protest ended peacefully without any horrible incidents.
The students have been staging demonstrations—including rail blockades, human chains, symbolic classes, and cultural programmes—as part of their ongoing movement to press for the demand.
Earlier, they held various programmes including blocking the railway track yesterday with the same demand.
