Trafficked girl cries to return home in India

Sangeeta Mandal,a 14-year-old Indian girl, was trafficked to Bangladesh some seven years ago. A seven-year-old kid has turned into a working teenage who serves Bismillah Polymers and Packaging factory in Bisik Shilpa Nagar, Barisal as a day labourer. A lot of things happened in the middle of the journey. However, the girl never quit the hope to return home and be united with her family back there. The girl is dreaming of returning home in India one day.

Sangeeta was abducted by traffickers from Bhurgachi village of Diamond Harbour, South Chabbish Parganas of Kolkata. She can recall her father Gurupada Mandal, mother Parvati Mandal and uncle Rahul Mandal. When she was seven, a relative sold her secretly to a broker and Sangeeta was trafficked to Bangladesh. Later, she was rescued from the hospital with the help of Madaripur Police.

Nazmun Nahar Rina, the owner of Bismillah Polymers and Packaging, said: "With the help of Barisal District Commissioner Shahidul Islam and the administration's housing officer Sajjad Parvez, some girls from the rehabilitation center of Social Services Department, have been given work in my institution. One of them is Sangeeta Mandal. She works hard but is always calm. She cries and begs to return to her parents."

Regarding Sangeeta, Barisal district administration housing officer Sajjad Parvez said: "We brought Sangeeta through Madaripur court. She has been kept at the rehabilitation center for better life. She is now working at Bismillah Polymers, Barisal BC. She wants to go back to her family. But till now none of her relatives have contacted us."

Sangeeta said: "None of my parents and relatives know where I am. So they can't even communicate. I want to return to my family."

She seeks help from the authorities to return to her parents.
