Train services between Dhaka and the northern region have resumed after being suspended for nearly five hours. Operations on the route returned to normal at 9am on Monday, September 29, following the recovery of the derailed Panchagarh Express.

The information was confirmed by Hasina Khatun, transport officer of the western zone railway at Pakshi.

According to reports, at around 4am on Monday, the engine and two coaches of the Panchagarh Express derailed at Bhangura station in Pabna district, cutting off rail communication between Dhaka and the northern region.

Sources from the Pakshi railway transport office stated that due to the derailment, train services remained suspended for five hours. Six trains, including Ekota Express, Burimari Express, Bonolota Express, Ishwardi-Dhaka Local-99 and Panchagarh Express, were stranded at different stations near Bhangura, causing severe suffering to passengers.

Services resumed around 9am once the derailed coaches were removed, and the stranded trains departed for their destinations.
