Trawler sinks at Karnaphuli River estuary: 2 bodies recovered, 5 missing

Fishing trawler sank at the Karnaphuli River estuary off the coast of Chattogram in the Bay of Bengal at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (August 7), leaving eight fishermen missing. After three days of search, the bodies of two fishermen were recovered on Saturday evening.

The Coast Guard is continuing its search operation in the sea to rescue the remaining missing fishermen.

According to reports, the trawler sank after being hit by another vessel in the deep sea on Thursday, but the incident only came to light on Saturday morning.

Patenga Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Md. Sultan Ahsan Uddin confirmed the matter, stating that there were 19 fishermen on board. Following the accident, another fishing trawler rescued 11 of them alive on Friday.
