Fuel pass launched on trial basis, how to register
The government has started the experimental operation of the QR code-based 'Fuel Pass' app to ensure discipline and transparency in fuel distribution. From now on, drivers will have to verify the information through the app according to the allocated allocation.
This information was given in a notification by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Thursday (April 9).
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Department is implementing this initiative. Initially, the service has been launched at two filling stations in the capital - Trust Filling Station in Tejgaon and Sonarbangla Filling Station in Asadgate. For now, only motorcycle drivers will get this facility.
According to ministry sources, currently, long traffic jams and suffering are being created at filling stations due to manual oil distribution. In many cases, the same person is standing in line multiple times to collect more than required oil, which is creating an artificial crisis in the market. The new system will ensure the allocation of fuel for each vehicle and create opportunities for real-time monitoring, the authorities concerned hope.
If the pilot program is successful, there are plans to gradually introduce this system across the country, including other filling stations in the capital.
