Tribunal seeks explanation on how Obaidul Quader left the country
The International Crimes Tribunal has sought an explanation from the police on how Awami League General Secretary and former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader left the country.
Chief Prosecutor Advocate Mohammad Tajul Islam gave this information after the hearing of the case filed at the International Crimes Tribunal on Tuesday (December 17).
The court also asked the IGP to provide an explanation in this regard within two weeks.
Tajul Islam said, "Even after the arrest warrant was issued against Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, he remained in the country for three months. Even then, an explanation has been sought on how he went abroad, why he was not arrested, and the law enforcement agencies have been asked to submit a report."
He said, "If someone helps someone escape despite the court's instructions, then there is a chance to take action against him according to the law."
The tribunal also wanted to know about Interpol's steps to bring Sheikh Hasina back from India.
