The All Tripura Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association in Tripura, a northeastern state of India, has lifted its ban on serving Bangladeshi travelers coming for medical treatment. The association announced on Thursday that it will now offer accommodation and other services to Bangladeshis visiting Tripura on medical visas. The organization denied allegations of mistreating Bangladeshi visitors. Earlier, on Monday (December 2), the association had announced that its members would not serve Bangladeshi guests following an incident of disrespecting the Indian flag in Bangladesh. At that time, the association’s general secretary, Saikat Bandopadhyay, stated that the decision was made after an emergency meeting. Now, the association has lifted the ban on Bangladeshi medical tourists.

ভারতের ত্রিপুরা রাজ্যের হোটেল ও রেস্তোরাঁ মালিকদের সংগঠন ‘অল ত্রিপুরা হোটেল অ্যান্ড রেস্টুরেন্ট ওনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন’ বাংলাদেশি ভ্রমণকারীদের ওপর নিষেধাজ্ঞা শিথিল করেছে। বৃহস্পতিবার সংগঠনটি জানায়, মেডিকেল ভিসা নিয়ে আসা বাংলাদেশি নাগরিকদের থাকাসহ অন্যান্য সেবা দেওয়া হবে। সংগঠনটি চিকিৎসাসেবা নিতে আসা বাংলাদেশিদের জন্য তাদের নীতিমালা পরিবর্তন করলেও আগের সিদ্ধান্তে তারা ভারতীয় পতাকার অবমাননার প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছিল। এর আগে গত সোমবার বাংলাদেশ থেকে আসা ভ্রমণকারীদের সেবা না দেয়ার ঘোষণা দিয়েছিল ত্রিপুরা হোটেল অ্যান্ড রেস্টুরেন্ট ওনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন। তবে পরে বাংলাদেশিদের সঙ্গে দুর্ব্যবহারের অভিযোগ অস্বীকার করে সংগঠনটি। এ ব্যাপারে ওইদিনই সংগঠনের সাধারণ সম্পাদক সৈকত বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বলেন, সোমবার অনুষ্ঠিত এক জরুরি বৈঠকে এ সিদ্ধান্ত (বাংলাদেশি ভ্রমণকারীদের ওপর নিষেধাজ্ঞা শিথিল) নেওয়া হয়। আর এই সিদ্ধান্তের ফলে আবার ত্রিপুরায় চিকিৎসাসেবা নিতে পারবেন বাংলাদেশিরা।
