Truck driver beats traffic cop in Ctg for asking to see papers

A Traffic Sergeant Inspector was beaten and left bleeding while on duty in Fatikchhari upazila, Chattogram. Police, with the help of locals, arrested the dump truck driver Akbar following the incident.

The incident occurred at the Bivirhat bus stand area in the upazila headquarters around noon on Wednesday, February 25.

According to police and local sources, Traffic Sergeant Inspector Mofiz Uddin was checking vehicle papers in the area as part of his regular duty. When he stopped a dump truck and asked to see the vehicle's documents, the driver Akbar became enraged.

At one point, he suddenly attacked the traffic officer, striking him repeatedly. Mofiz Uddin was injured in the face and left bleeding.

Immediately after the incident, local bystanders and other police personnel apprehended the truck driver. He was later taken into custody by Fatikchhari Thana police.

The injured traffic officer Mofiz Uddin said he was performing his regular duties and had stopped the truck to check the papers, when the driver suddenly attacked him.

Fatikchhari Thana Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Rafiqul Islam said the truck driver involved in the incident has been arrested. Legal action is underway.
