US President Trump's Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor is set to visit the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, on Friday (July 31) to assess the humanitarian situation and the living conditions of displaced Rohingyas.

During the visit, Gor will travel directly from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar, where he is expected to observe conditions in the camps, review ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts, and gain firsthand insight into the current challenges facing the Rohingya population.

The visit comes as part of his three-day official tour of Bangladesh, which began on Thursday. After arriving in Dhaka, the US envoy held bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman at the state guest house Padma.

Following the meeting, the foreign minister said Bangladesh and the United States are moving toward a stronger and more constructive bilateral partnership, with discussions placing particular emphasis on the Rohingya crisis, its long-term resolution, and enhanced humanitarian support for the refugees.

Bangladesh also urged Washington to increase humanitarian assistance for the Rohingya population, the minister added.

On the final day of his visit, Saturday (August 1), Sergio Gor is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman before concluding his official trip to Bangladesh.
