Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister calls on CA Yunus
Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Burak Akçapar paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey, focusing particularly on potential partnerships in education, health, and technology.
Ambassador Akçapar, who is on his first visit to Bangladesh, expressed gratitude for the country’s warm hospitality. He conveyed greetings and felicitations from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and invited Chief Adviser Yunus to visit Turkey at a mutually convenient time.
Accepting the invitation, Professor Yunus said, “We wish to elevate our relations to a new height. Following the July Revolution, this is a new beginning—our two countries can collaborate across many sectors, including education, health, and technology.”
The Chief Adviser also expressed appreciation to the Turkish government for providing free medical treatment to seven Bangladeshis injured during the July Revolution.
Deputy Foreign Minister Akçapar reaffirmed Turkey’s continued support for Bangladesh’s development efforts, noting that Ankara encourages educational advancement through various short- and long-term scholarship and exchange programmes for Bangladeshi students.
Senior Secretary and Principal Coordinator (SDGs) of the Chief Adviser’s Office Lamia Morshed, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Turkey M. Amanul Haq, and Director General of the East Europe and CIS Wing Md. Mosharaf Hossain were present during the meeting.
