Two 9mm pistols looted from police station recovered from Chattogram slum

Detective Branch (DB) police have recovered two 9mm pistols from a slum in the Ambagan area of Khulshi in Chattogram city, which were looted from Doublemooring Police Station during the August 5, 2024, uprising.

A team from DB North conducted a raid on Sunday (July 26) afternoon at a slum behind the Ambagan Railway Colony and seized two sophisticated Brazilian-made 'Taurus' brand pistols.

According to DB police, acting on a tip-off that arms were being traded in the area, they launched the operation. Upon sensing the presence of police, the criminals fled, abandoning the firearms.

Two 9mm pistols were later recovered from the spot. Cross-checking with bank records and documents confirmed that the firearms were part of the cache looted from Doublemooring Police Station on August 5, 2024.

Earlier, on Saturday night, seven police personnel, including two Sub-Inspectors (SIs), were injured in an attack by criminals during a raid to arrest a drug dealer in the same area.

A DB official confirmed the recovery and said operations are ongoing to identify and arrest those involved.
