Two AL activists shot dead in Chattogram

Two men were shot dead on Oxygen-Kuwaish road in Chattogram's Ananya residential area on Thursday night (August 29).

The deceased are Masud Qaiser, 32, and Mohammad Anis, 38. 

Both men, residents of West Kuwaish in Shikarpur union, Hathazari upazila, were known supporters of the Awami League (AL) and closely associated with Yunus Gani Chowdhury, a former chairman of Hathazari upazila parishad and an AL leader.

Mohiuddin Suman, the in-charge of Madunaghat police outpost, confirmed the matter. He said, "The police responded promptly after receiving the information, and appropriate action is being taken."

Acting Superintendent of Police of Chattogram district, Wasim Feroz, stated, "Two individuals were seriously injured in the shooting on Oxygen-Quaish road. Anis died at the scene, and Qaiser was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Preliminary findings suggest that the incident resulted from an ongoing dispute."
