Two arrested for allegedly raping college student on launch
Police have arrested two individuals accused of raping a college student from the capital inside a launch cabin. The arrestees have been sent to court.
Kotwali Police Station OC Shah Md Faisal Ahmed said the student was raped on Sunday while travelling to Dhaka on the Farhan-4 launch from Hatia's Tamaruddin Launch Ghat. Based on the complaint, Mohammad Sakib Uddin, 26, and Mohammad Nuruzzaman Mithu, 32, have been arrested.
OC Faisal Ahmed said, "After receiving the complaint, we admitted the victim to hospital and after hearing details, launched operations to arrest the accused. Following continuous operations, two were arrested."
Police said the student's father had put her in the launch cabin and left. Later at night, Sakib and Nuruzzaman entered the cabin and assaulted the student. The student's brother filed a case as plaintiff on Monday night.
Based on the case details, the arrestees have been produced in court. Police and investigators are continuing their investigation to verify the truth of the allegations.
