Two arrested over alleged gang-rape in Dinajpur

Police have arrested two people in connection with an alleged gang-rape in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur.

The arrestees are Ruhul Amin and Shukur Ali, while another accused, Ferdous Mia, remains absconding, said Badsha Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hakimpur Police Station.

He said the two arrested were sent to court and police are making efforts to arrest Ferdous Mia.

According to the case statement, the victim went to Ruhul Amin’s house in Palpara village on September 30 to collect money owed to her.

Ruhul Amin, Shukur Ali and Ferdous Mia allegedly confined her inside the house and violated her.

They allegedly recorded the incident on a mobile phone and threatened to circulate the footage on social media.

Later, locals learned about the incident and detained Ruhul Amin and Shukur Ali at the house.

On information, police went to the spot, took the two men into custody and rescued the woman.

OC Badsha Alam said a case has been filed over the alleged incident based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.
