Two Bangladeshis have work permits revoked in Singapore over extremist posts
Two Bangladeshi nationals working in Singapore have had their work permits revoked and been repatriated to Bangladesh after an investigation into extremist posts on social media, authorities said.
The Internal Security Department (ISD) confirmed the matter on Friday, July 17.
According to ISD, separate investigations were conducted in July against Tayani Md Rishad, 25, and Islam Sahedul, 37. Evidence of extremist social media posts led to the cancellation of their work permits and subsequent deportation.
An ISD spokesperson said the actions were taken solely based on their online activities.
The department clarified that no links were found between the two Bangladeshis and any individuals previously identified or under investigation for extremism under the Internal Security Act.
