Two beaches in Cox's Bazar renamed

The authorities have changed the names of two beaches in Cox's Bazar. A notification signed by Md Shahab Uddin, Assistant Secretary for Liberation War Affairs, was issued in this regard on Monday.

According to the notification, Sugandha Beach has been renamed after the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ‘Bangabandhu Beach’, while the area between Sugandha and Kalatali Beach has been named ‘Bir Muktijoddha Beach’.

The decision was taken at the 13th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Liberation War of the 11th Parliament as per the request of Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Chairman Md Solaiman Mia, says the notification.

Instructions are given to all concerned, including the Deputy Commissioner, to take the necessary measures in this regard.
