Two beaten to death on suspicion of mugging in Gaibandha

Two people have been beaten to death by locals on suspicion of mugging in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha.

The incident occurred around 4 am on Friday in Khodd Mojahidpur village under Khodd Komorpur union, confirmed Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Alim of Sadullapur Police Station.

According to the OC, three individuals arrived in the Mojahidpur area on a motorcycle early in the morning and allegedly attempted to snatch valuables from a passerby. Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rushed to the scene. One of the three managed to flee, while the other two were caught and beaten to death on the spot.

Police are trying to identify the deceased. After inquest procedures, the bodies have been sent to the Gaibandha General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Administration and Finance, Sharif Al Rajib, PPM, said police have been dispatched to the scene. The bodies of the two victims and a motorcycle used by them were recovered from the spot.
