Two brothers beaten, hacked to death in Chuadanga
Two brothers were beaten and hacked to death in Chuadanga's Jibannagar upazila this morning (September 20), following a long-standing dispute, police said.
The incident took place around 9am in the Bridge Math area of the upazila's Utholi village.
The deceased have been identified as Anwar Hossain, 55, and Hamza Ali, 45, sons of Khude Mondol of the local Boro Masjidpara in Uthali village.
Mamun Hossain Biswas, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jibannagar Police Station, confirmed.
Police rushed to the scene immediately after the incident, and additional forces were deployed to maintain order in the area.
According locals, a longstanding dispute over cattle trading had existed between Hamza and his neighbour Nizamuddin Khoka. While Anwar and Hamza were working in the fields near Boro Masjidpara, they were attacked by their rivals with sharp weapons, rods, and sticks, leaving both critically injured.
Villagers immediately took the brothers to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where one was declared dead on arrival. The other died while receiving treatment, confirmed Dr Wahid Mahmud Robin, the on-duty doctor.
Aklima Khatun, wife of the deceased Anwar Hossain, alleged that following the attack, Nizamuddin Khoka and his two sons arrived at their house armed with knives and openly declared, “We have killed the two brothers — take their bodies.”
"Police have launched operations to arrest those involved in the attack," the OC said.
