Two cops killed as covered van rams motorcycle in Kushtia

Two police officers were killed after a covered van rammed over their motorcycle in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia on Tuesday afternoon (December 16).

The accident took place around 12:00pm as the officers were travelling by motorcycle from Pabna to Kushtia.

The deceased were identified as Mozharul Islam, a sub-inspector of the Special Branch of Pabna District Police, and Koyes Uddin, an assistant sub-inspector. Their bodies were recovered and sent to the Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital.

According to the police, a speeding covered van rammed over their motorcycle from behind shortly after they crossed the Lalon Shah Bridge, killing both on the spot.

Jahedur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station, confirmed the deaths, adding that the covered van involved in the crash has not yet been traced.
