Two dead, three injured in Moulvibazar road crash

Two people have been killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Siraj Nagar area of Srimangal upazila, Moulvibazar. The accident occurred around 6:30 pm on Monday, March 30, police said. Srimangal Police Station Sub-Inspector Muhibur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Police said the microbus was heading from Moulvibazar towards Srimangal, while the CNG auto-rickshaw was coming from Srimangal towards Moulvibazar. The two vehicles collided head-on on the way.

Among the deceased is the CNG driver, Abdul Hannan. The identity of the other deceased has not yet been confirmed. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Moulvibazar 250-bed General Hospital, where doctors declared two dead. Two critically injured individuals have been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. One of the injured has been identified as Rahul, 18.

Two others have been admitted to hospital, with one of them reportedly in critical condition.

Following the incident, police detained the microbus driver, Naeem. Police said the number of casualties may increase.
