Two die from electrocution while digging grave in Brahmanbaria

Two people died after being electrocuted while digging a grave in Kasba, Brahmanbaria, on Monday morning, June 8. Five others were injured in the incident.

The deceased have been identified as Nuru Mia, 65, son of Jamir Hossain, and Sanaullah, 18, son of Morju Mia, both of the Neyamatpur village in the upazila.

According to local sources, several youths and locals were digging a grave for the burial of the wife of the late Moti Sarkar. While removing a stainless steel shield used to cover the grave, it came into contact with an electric wire passing over the cemetery, causing instant electrocution.

Two died on the spot, and five others were injured.

Dr Atik Akram of the Kasba Upazila Health Complex said one of the electrocuted victims was brought to the hospital, while the other died before reaching the facility.

Kasba Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nurul Amin confirmed the matter, saying police have been sent to the scene. An investigation is underway, and necessary action will be taken.
