Two farmers electrocuted in Jhenaidah
Two farmers, an uncle and his nephew, have been electrocuted after coming into contact with an electric wire in Maheshpur, Jhenaidah. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, April 5, in the Baganmath village of Banshberia union in the upazila.
The deceased are Rafiqul Sarkar, 50, son of late Jamshed Sarkar, and Nur Alam, 35, son of late Abu Samad.
Banshberia Union Parishad Chairman Nazmul Huda Jintu said Rafiqul was spraying insecticide on his paddy field at noon when he came into contact with a low-hanging electric wire connected to a motor. Nur Alam, who was working in an adjacent field, rushed to save his uncle but was also electrocuted. Both died at the scene.
Maheshpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mehedi Hasan said the two died after coming into contact with a leaking electric wire from a motor. Police have been sent to the spot, and necessary action will be taken after investigation.
