Two farmers killed by lightning in Naogaon

Two farmers were killed in separate lightning strikes in Raninagar and Manda upazilas of Naogaon district on Thursday morning (July 9).

The deceased were identified as Sakhawat Hossain, 55, son of Mohammad Khoybor Ali of Malshon village in Raninagar upazila, and Ismail Sardar, 50, son of Tohir Sardar of Elenga Mridhapara area in Manda upazila.

Raninagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Zakaria said it had been raining since Wednesday night. Sakhawat Hossain died on the spot after being struck by lightning while working on his land near his house in the morning. Necessary measures have been taken regarding this matter.

Meanwhile, Prasadpur Union Parishad Chairman Md. Abdul Matin Mondal said Ismail Sardar had gone to work on his land in the morning when a lightning strike killed him on the spot.
