Police have recovered the bodies of two young men, believed to be close friends, from separate homes in Palash upazila of Narsingdi.

The deceased were identified as Musanna Galib Mim, 28, and Sheikh Sharif, 27, residents of the same neighbourhood.

Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Palash Police Station, said, "The two were friends and initial findings suggest the deaths may be suicides."

According to police and local residents, Mim had been living alone as his parents were away. Around 8:30pm, a foul odour from his home prompted neighbours to alert authorities. Police forced entry and found his body hanging from a rafter. The body was in a decomposed state, indicating he may have died several days earlier.

In a separate incident, police broke into Sharif’s room at another house in the same area and found him hanging from a ceiling fan. His ailing mother was at home but was unaware of the incident. Investigators believe he may have died within the past 24 hours.

Police said both men were suspected to have been drug users, though the exact circumstances surrounding their deaths remain unclear.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
