Two fuel tankers carrying 53,600 tonnes of diesel arrive at Ctg port
Two vessels carrying a combined 53,600 tonnes of diesel from China and India have arrived at the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port, according to local shipping agents.
The arrival of the shipments is expected to help meet approximately four days of national demand, based on an estimated daily consumption of 12,500 tonnes.
According to Pride Shipping Lines, the Liberia-flagged vessel Lila Kingston arrived on Friday (May 1) at around 3:00pm, carrying 19,000 tonnes of diesel from China.
Another vessel, the Panama-flagged Private Solana, carrying 34,600 tonnes of diesel, reached Kutubdia anchorage early Saturday (May 2).
Pride Shipping Lines Managing Partner Nazrul Islam said that two fuel vessels are currently berthed at Dolphin Jetty, while two more are waiting at the outer anchorage. One vessel is already undergoing lightering operations.
“With the arrival of these two new vessels, the number of fuel tankers at the port now stands at seven,” he said.
Earlier in April, a total of 20 vessels delivered 605,227 tonnes of fuel oil at Chattogram Port. The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation has also secured imports of around 6,00,000 tonnes of fuel for May, including 1,00,000 tonnes of crude oil.
