Two girls die as wall collapses in Badda
Two young girls have died after an old boundary wall collapsed in Badda, Dhaka. The deceased are Ayesha Moni, 12, and Nusrat, 5.
The incident occurred around 11:15 am on Wednesday, March 11, at 10 North Badda Purbachal Lane.
Ayesha's father, Md Iqbal, said Ayesha and Nusrat were playing near their house in the morning when the old boundary wall of a neighbouring under-construction house suddenly collapsed on them. The two children were critically injured after being trapped under the debris.
Locals rescued them and took them to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 12:45 pm. The doctor on duty declared both dead upon arrival.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost, said the bodies of the two children have been kept in the hospital morgue and the matter has been communicated to the concerned police station.
Deceased Ayesha Moni was the daughter of painter Md Iqbal from Yafedi village in Barura upazila, Cumilla. The family resided in the North Badda Purbachal area. Ayesha, who had two sisters and one brother, was a class two student at a local school.
The other deceased, Nusrat, was the daughter of rod binder Md Sharif from Maloyadi village in Pakundia upazila, Kishoreganj. Her family lived as tenants at Ayesha's residence in North Badda Purbachal.
