Two groups clash in Shariatpur, over 100 crude bombs exploded

A clash has occurred between two parties over dominance at Jajira upazila in Shariatpur. Over 100 crude bombs were exploded during the clash.

The incident took place in Durbadanga area at Bilaspur union of the upazila on Saturday (April 5) morning. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

According to local and police sources, the dispute between the supporters of Bilaspur union Chairman Kuddus Bepari and the supporters of Swechchhasebak League leader Jalil Madbar over establishing dominance has been going on for a long time. There have been several clashes over this. On Saturday morning, a clash broke out again between the supporters of both sides over a trivial incident in Durbadanga area. During this time, more than 100 crude bombs were detonated. Later, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile, a 15-second video of the clash and the hand bomb explosion has been circulated on social media Facebook. It shows people from both sides facing each other in an open field. Many are seen carrying buckets and wearing helmets. The crude bombs were being thrown from the buckets. Later, they exploded with a loud noise, creating smoke.

Quddus Bepari and Jalil Madbar's mobile phones were found switched off despite several attempts.

Contacted, Jajira Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dulal Akhand said there was a clash between the two groups of villagers over establishing dominance. On information, the police went to the spot. Now the situation is calm. Further legal action will be taken in this regard.
