Two killed, 10 injured in head-on bus collision in Pabna

Two people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses in the Sholabarhia area on the Pabna–Dhaka highway.

The accident occurred around 7:15am on Tuesday, February 10, near Sholabarhia Bridge under Ataikula Police Station in Santhia upazila.

Madhpur Highway Police station officer-in-charge Mustafizar Rahman confirmed the incident.

He said a passenger bus of Shahjadpur Travels was travelling from Pabna to Dhaka when it collided head-on with a Masrangha Paribahan bus coming from the opposite direction near Sholabarhia Bridge. One person died on the spot.

Police and local residents rescued the injured and sent them to different hospitals. Another person died after being taken to Pabna General Hospital.

The identities of the injured are yet to be confirmed. Of the two deceased, one was the driver of Shahjadpur Travels and the other was a helper of Masrangha Paribahan. Seven to eight critically injured passengers have been admitted to hospital.
