Two killed after truck hits rickshaw in capital's Jatrabari

Two people were killed after being struck by a truck in the Kacha Bazar area of capital’s Jatrabari.

The accident took place around 1:00am on Friday night (April 3).

The identities of the deceased, a rickshaw driver and his passenger, have not yet been confirmed.

Authorities said both were malea and approximately 40 to 50 years old.

According to the eyewitnesses, including Khairul Islam and Md. Hridoy, a speeding truck hit victims' rickshaw, causing severe injuries to the driver and his passenger. Both victims were rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition but were declared dead by on-duty doctors around 2:00am.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp in-charge, Inspector Md. Faruk, confirmed the deaths and said the bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue, with the relevant police station notified for further investigation.
