Two killed as bus hits auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh
Two passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed in a bus accident in Mymensingh's Trishal. Another person was injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 8.00pm on Thursday (April 10) in Birampur on the Trishal-Madhupur road.
Monsur Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station, confirmed the matter.
One of the victims was identified as Anufa Begum, a resident of Ishwarganj, Mymensingh, while the identity of the other remains unknown.
According to locals, a passenger bus from Tarail of Kishoreganj, was heading to Dhaka via Trishal. Around 8.00pm, when it reached Birampur on the Trishal-Balipara regional road, another passenger bus coming from the opposite direction collided with the auto-rickshaw. Two passengers died on the spot. Locals rescued the injured auto-rickshaw driver and took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
OC Monsur Ahmed said, "With the help of locals, we managed to seize the bus, but the driver fled. Legal action is underway."
