Two killed as lorry crushes multiple vehicles in Dhaka’s Moghbazar
Two people were killed and several others injured after a lorry rammed into multiple vehicles, including a motorcycle, a pickup van and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, in Dhaka’s Moghbazar on Sunday (August 9).
The accident occurred around 12:30pm in front of Grand Shopping Complex in the Moghbazar area under Ramna Model Police Station.
The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Riad Hossain, 22, and Zaman Ahmed, 42, dead. Another injured person, identified as Ripon, 40, is receiving treatment at the hospital.
Zaman Ahmed was the son of Ilias Fakir of Madhurgati Fakirpara village in Narail Sadar upazila. Riad Hossain was the son of Liaquat Fakir, also from the same upazila.
Inspector Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost, confirmed the deaths and said the bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Details about the lorry driver and the exact cause of the accident were not immediately available.
