Two killed being run over by train in Gazipur

Two people have died after being run over by a train at Tongi in Gazipur.

The accident occurred around 10:30 pm on Monday (December 9) in the Banmala area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway line in Tongi.

The names and identities of the deceased could not be known. One of them is estimated to be 30 years old and the other is 6 years old.

Tongi Railway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Chhotan Sharma said, “Two people were killed on the spot after being run over by the Kurigram Express train on the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway line. The locals informed the police and the two bodies were recovered from the spot. It is initially believed that they are father and son.”

He said that their names and identities are not known. Efforts are underway to identify them. The two bodies were recovered and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
