Two killed in Chapainawabganj cocktail blast identified

Police have confirmed the identities of two individuals killed in an explosion while making cocktails in Chapainawabganj. Three others were injured in the incident.

The incident occurred around 5:00 am on Saturday, February 14, in the Fatapara area of Char Bagdanga union in Sadar upazila.

The deceased are Alamin, 20, son of Moazzem from Upper Dhumihayetpur area in Ranihati union of Sadar upazila, and Jihad, 17, son of Monirul Islam from Ghorapakhia union in Shibganj upazila. The injured are Md Bazlur Rahman, 20, and Md Minhaj, 22, from Fatapara village in Char Bagdanga union, and Md Shuvro, 20, from Upper Dhumi area in Ranihati union.

Nure Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station, said the bodies of the deceased are being taken to the district hospital morgue and necessary legal procedures are underway.

Superintendent of Police Gautam Kumar Biswas said multiple cocktail explosions occurred at the spot between 5:00 am and 5:30 am. Two people were killed and three injured. Evidence has been collected from the scene.

According to police sources, a group of miscreants was staying at the house of Md Kalam, son of late Mokbul Hossain in Fatapara village, with equipment for making cocktails. An explosion suddenly occurred while they were making cocktails. The intensity of the blast killed two people on the spot. Their identities could not be immediately ascertained due to disfigured faces.

Locals rescued the three injured and admitted them to Chapainawabganj Modern Sadar Hospital. Later, as their condition deteriorated, they were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
