Two killed in Jhenaidah road crash

Two people were killed when a truck struck a motorcycle in Jhenaidah on Friday night (February 20).

The incident took place around 11:00pm in the Pobhati Kalarhat area of the town.

The deceased were identified as Shahriar Rahman Shanto, 31, son of Shahin Rahman of Arappur village, and Toton Hossain, 35, son of Abdus Sattar from Bepari Para.

According to In-Charge of Arappur Highway Police, Mrityunjoy Biswas, the truck hit the motorcycle and fled the scene. Locals rushed the critically injured men to the 250-bed Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where Shanto was declared dead on arrival. Toton Hossain later died while being transferred to Dhaka due to the severity of his injuries.

Dr. Tapas, Medical Officer of the hospital’s emergency department, confirmed Hossain’s critical condition necessitated referral to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
