Two killed in lightning strike in Pirganj

Two people, including a woman, have died and two others were injured in a lightning strike in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon.

The incident occurred around 12pm on Sunday in the Bolga village of Kushariganj Union in the upazila.

According to locals and police, lightning struck during rain, killing tea stall owner Shanti Roy (45) and Sohi Chandra (55), a resident of the same village, on the spot.

Salon Chandra (55) and Tepra Chandra (60) were seriously injured. Locals rescued them and first took them to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex. As their condition deteriorated, they were later transferred to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Pirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Hossain Pramanik confirmed the incident.
